A More Efficient Government
As our District 39 Assembly team, Bob Schroeder and Charlotte Vandervalk will push for fundamental changes in Trenton to install strong fiscal controls that protect taxpayers and make government more efficient -- to save tax dollars. They'll start with a tough review of the state budget to eliminate wasteful spending, patronage and outdated programs. Then they will focus state spending back on priorities: education, public safety and maintaining an infrastructure that helps create jobs. Finally, they will work for new legislation that makes it harder for the politicians to raise taxes and spending or incur new debt.
Common Sense Property Tax Relief
Bob Schroeder and his running mate Charlotte Vandervalk have both seen firsthand how the decisions made in Trenton can hurt local property taxpayers. That's why they will push for fundamental changes to the property tax system to make it more fair and affordable for all homeowners – while making sure the local taxes we pay stay right here in our local communities. Most importantly, Charlotte and Bob will work to change the state education formula to make sure our schools get back more of the tax dollars we send to Trenton – and help reduce the need for local districts to raise property taxes.
Create Jobs and Revive Our Economy
As a businessman, Bob Schroeder has created good-paying, family-sustaining jobs here in New Jersey – and seen how Trenton can stifle job creation. As part of the District 39 Assembly team, Bob Schroeder will push for vital changes to the state's onerous business tax structure, reducing burdensome regulations and providing for worker re-training that gives people the skills they need to secure today's hi-tech jobs.
A Full-Service Local Hospital
Bob Schroeder has been at the forefront of the effort to re-open Pascack Valley Hospital as a full-service hospital, which is essential to provide needed medical services to local residents. He will continue this work and stand strong against outsiders who are trying to hurt our community's medical care for political gain.
Make Our Schools Even Better
As a parent with two children in our public schools, Bob Schroeder knows our schools can do more for kids if they get the right kind of support - not just more money. He will work to make sure our tax dollars are spent in the classroom instead of on bureaucracy, improve local accountability, and foster cooperation among parents, teachers, administrators and other stakeholders in our schools.
Stand Up to the FAA
As a Councilman in the Township of Washington, Bob Schroeder has long been an outspoken advocate for local residents in the effort to prevent the Federal Aviation Administration from changing flight patterns and adversely affecting our quality-of-life. In the Assembly, he will continue this effort and bring our concerns and our voice to the federal government.
Healthcare We Can All Afford
It's simple: to make healthcare more accessible, we need to make it more affordable. That's why Bob will work for smart changes to the healthcare system – such as frivolous lawsuit reform, insurance purchasing pools, medical mistake elimination, healthcare tax credits and more -- that reduce costs for all New Jerseyans and help make sure they can get the health coverage they need.
Meet Our Local Needs
As an elected official for close to 20 years, Bob Schroeder has already proven that he is always available to listen to the needs and concerns of the people he represents. As part of the District 39 Assembly team, he and Charlotte Vandervalk will continue to listen to residents – along with ensuring that their offices are always available to help solve our problems with state government. Just as important, Charlotte and Bob are committed to addressing our local issues – from securing funding for important local community groups and projects to ensuring our quality-of-life continues to improve.
Open and Honest Government
Bob Schroeder and Charlotte Vandervalk believe that citizens deserve to know exactly how their government is working for them. That's why they will push for initiatives that make Trenton more open and accountable – such as an improved Open Records Law, enhanced web services that let taxpayers see how their money is being used, and more.
Victim's Rights
Bob Schroeder is the founder of KeepBergenSafe.com, a non-profit, non-partisan group dedicated to promoting and protecting victims’ rights in Bergen County and beyond. He spearheaded a letter-writing campaign to keep a dangerous local killer sentenced to Life in prison from obtaining parole, and in August 2009, he delivered over 1200 letters from the community to the New Jersey State Parole Board. In September 2009, Bob was successful in his effort to have this unrepentant rapist & murderer kept behind bars. As your Assemblyman, Bob will continue his advocacy for victim’s rights, proposing an amendment to the current Joan’s Law legislation to raise the applicable victim’s age to 18, broadening the scope of this important deterrent.
